1. Agreement to Terms
These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Chord, a company incorporated in India with its registered office in Mumbai, Maharashtra. These Terms govern your use of the Chord mobile application, website (chordapp.in), and all related services.
By using the Services, you agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Services.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 16 years of age. If under 18, you represent you have parental/guardian consent. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16.
3. Account Registration
You must provide accurate information. You are responsible for maintaining credential confidentiality and all activities under your account. One account per person. Notify security@chordapp.in immediately of any unauthorised access.
4. Your Content
You retain full ownership of all content you create or upload.
Chord does not claim ownership. Your memories are yours. Always.
By uploading content, you grant Chord a limited, non-exclusive, revocable licence to store, process, and display it solely to provide the Services. This licence terminates when you delete your content or account.
We do not use your content for: training ML models (other than your personal on-device models), advertising, research (unless anonymised), display to other users, or any purpose other than serving you.
Content restrictions: No infringing, illegal, or malicious content. We reserve the right to remove violations.
Music: Chord stores only song title and artist name as text. We do not store, stream, or reproduce copyrighted recordings.
5. Description of Services
Capture: Save a moment with photos, videos, songs, notes, voice recordings, moods, and locations. Live capture identifies the song playing in the background as you film.
Nights: Every festival, gig, and club night as its own collection — your captures, your crew's captures, and the night's setlist, gathered in one place.
Reflect: Revisit one memory at a time in a calm, full-screen presentation, with the original song playing alongside it.
Recall: Search across your own memories by mood, place, artist, or how a night felt.
Integrations: Spotify, Apple Music, Strava, Apple Health (workout data only, on-device), Siri (via App Intents), smart glasses (Ray-Ban Meta), AI memory search. Each subject to respective third-party terms.
6. Subscriptions and Payments
Chord Plus, Chord Max, and Chord Crew: Paid subscription tiers with advanced features (unlimited memories, AI assistant, 4K capture, and — for Crew — up to five seats on one bill). See the Pricing page for current plans and prices. Billed through App Store / Play Store. Auto-renews unless cancelled 24h before end of period. Refunds handled by Apple/Google per their policies.
Free tier: The core experience — capturing memories, unlimited song detection, and Reflect — is and will remain free.
7. Acceptable Use
Use the Services for personal, non-commercial purposes. Do not: access others' accounts, reverse-engineer the App, store illegal content, use automated tools, circumvent security, use wearable features for medical diagnosis, or misrepresent your identity.
8. Intellectual Property
"Chord," the Chord logo, and the Chord wordmark are trademarks of Chord. The App's software, UI, brand assets, and content are our intellectual property.
9. Medical Disclaimer
Important
Chord is NOT a medical device, therapeutic tool, counselling service, or healthcare provider. Chord is the app for live music — it captures and helps you relive your memories, and does not diagnose, treat, or monitor any health condition.
In an emergency: Emergency services (112 India, 999 UK, 911 US). If you're in crisis, iCall (9152987821, India) and Samaritans (116 123, UK) are independent, professional resources — Chord is not a substitute for them.
10. Limitation of Liability
The Services are provided "as is" without warranties. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Chord's total aggregate liability shall not exceed the greater of (a) what you paid us in the past 12 months, or (b) $100.
11. Account Termination
By you: Delete your account anytime via Settings. All content permanently deleted within 30 days. Irreversible.
By Chord: We may terminate for Terms violations, illegal use, or 24 months of inactivity (30-day email notice).
12. Data Export
Export all your data anytime: photos, videos, voice notes as original files + all metadata in JSON format, delivered as a downloadable ZIP.
13. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Courts of Mumbai, Maharashtra have exclusive jurisdiction. EU/UK users retain their statutory consumer rights.
